Buffalo Nickel Statue Great Falls MT

A clever interpretation of art or a play on of words as I have heard the phrase stated many times over the years is what I can write about this buffalo statue found in Great Falls, MT.

And no more appropriate is it to find the location right in front of a bank on 10th Avenue South, one of the most traveled roads in Montana.

My husband and son, Wynston, say this is their favorite of all the buffalo we have found around this town so far.

I am not positive, but this may be the last one to photograph, but then again more may roam into town any day now.

Hope you enjoy these pictures. Wynston was the photographer in this blog. Pretty good for a 13 year old!

Morning Star Buffalo Great Falls MT

The family was all out together the other day after picking my husband up from the airport when one of my kids pointed out. "Hey mom, there is another one of your buffalos!" I had the digital camera on hand and into the bank parking lot we stopped. Not too much traffic was going on around the building so I took my time and some detail shots of this beautiful work of art.

I also loved the detail of the "quilt" over the back of the buffalo. Truly each artist that produced these had their own creative thought in how to paint and dress this symbol.

Hope I am not driving you nuts with the town of Great Falls, Montana and the buffalo, but I like the idea someone came up with placing them around here.

Another blog is coming right after this of another buffalo. My husband and son, Wynston, say the next one is their favorite.

Pernell Roberts, last star of TV's `Bonanza,' dies

Mon Jan 25, 9:19 pm ET
LOS ANGELES – Pernell Roberts, the ruggedly handsome actor who shocked Hollywood by leaving TV's "Bonanza" at the height of its popularity, then found fame again years later on "Trapper John, M.D.," has died. He was 81.
Roberts, the last surviving member of the classic Western's cast, died of cancer Sunday at his Malibu home, his wife Eleanor Criswell told the Los Angeles Times.
Although he rocketed to fame in 1959 as Adam Cartwright, eldest son of a Nevada ranching family led by Lorne Greene's patriarchal Ben Cartwright, Roberts chafed at the limitations he felt his "Bonanza" character was given.
"They told me the four characters (Greene, himself and Dan Blocker and Michael Landon as his brothers) would be carefully defined and the scripts carefully prepared," he complained to The Associated Press in 1964. "None of it ever happened."
It particularly distressed him that his character, a man in his 30s, had to continually defer to the wishes of his widowed father.
"Doesn't it seem a bit silly for three adult males to get Father's permission for everything they do?" he once asked a reporter.
Roberts agreed to fulfill his six-year contract but refused to extend it, and when he left the series in 1965, his character was eliminated with the explanation that he had simply moved away.
"Bonanza," with its three remaining stars, continued until 1973, making it second to "Gunsmoke" as the longest-running Western on TV. Blocker died in 1972, Greene in 1987, and Landon in 1991.
He mainly made appearances on TV shows and in miniseries, or toured with such theatrical productions as "The King and I, "Camelot" and "The Music Man.
