Storms Clouds Fort Benton Montana

It amazes me how fast the weather can change. Big white cotton ball like fluffy clouds hanging in the skies for the most part. Blues in so many different shades. I enjoy even taking cloud pictures at times. Yesterday, a huge storm came across the plains very swiftly. It was a big one and thunder and lightening were playing their symphony as well. My daughter and I headed outside -- her because it was cooling down rapidly and me with my camera to capture the moment.

I stayed outside till the big raindrops started hitting pretty hard. Didn't want to ruin my camera.

I tried to capture the storm after it passed over our house but was just over the hill from us. I loved the colors of the ripened wheat field accented by the dark storm clouds...only wish I had captured the shot better, but I had to quit playing and rush to get ready to leave for work.

Same is the situation now for me. Got to get supper cooked and then ready for another 12 hour overnight shift.

Covering Graffiti

The Great Falls Tribune wrote a piece recently on some very eye pleasing artwork now seen on Central Avenue.



I couldn't help but pull out my digital camera and take a walk with my youngest son to capture some of the colorful views. It was very interesting to get up close and see how pictures and poetry had been included in 10 different artists work.



Avery (11 years old) was a good sport and poised in a way to look like the fish was about to eat him. He is funny as he would do this for me very willingly, but when going to the local ball game, he will not stand by the mascot for a picture. I have even told him that I will stand on one side and he on the other, but no sale.



My favorite artwork was being worked on while we were snapping pictures. I love the swirly characters this lady has created.

One can only hope the artwork will not be tampered with by some unsightly graffiti that was on the temporary walls of this burned construction area.

My Spring is Full of Colors

I love the snow taking a break from us for a while. Can't believe we are sporting temperatures in the mid to high '40s for the past few days.

This has made me do some moving around of things in my house -- something known as "Spring Cleaning". I have only bagged up one sack of things to take to donate, but know I will get around to more soon.





Keeping my fingers busy as night while working I have been stitching on a few more pieces. Then on the weekends I get to spend a little time in my sewing room. I am working on another quilt top and decided to come up with some patchwork blocks. Lots of thread and the humming of my machine happening with this one. I seem to be choosing brighter colors.



Well, I am told if I don't get off this computer and head upstairs, dinner will be gone. Hope you are getting into the "Springy Zone" and your world is filled with happy colors.

Log Cabin Sewing

I purchased some quilt blocks from my good friend, Judith, through Ebay and have just recently sat at my sewing machine to put them together. They are so colorful!!!

Now, I am having to plan what fabrics to use as borders. I think I have the purple and green one worked out as of last night, but the pink and green one is a different story. It may be traveling with me to the fabric store this weekend.

Colorful Crafts

Thought I would show you some colorful crochet displays at the local Farmer's Market. Savannah had to have an item or two for her dollies. The doll missing a shawl and hat is the one she purchased from. This is her favorite booth and I take her a couple times in the summer to pick out something special.

Peacock Applique Quilt Block

I have totally fallen in love with this quilt block. I will be making it this week!

Some months ago, I was scouring the internet looking for a quilt block pattern of a peacock. I have always loved this bird. One's childlike cry even caused me to get locked out of my aunt's house on a snowy day when I first moved to Montana years ago. Let's just say I am glad the neighbors were friendly and kept me warm, because my relatives were gone when I got locked out of their place.
