Life Is Always Good

Photo by Pringle Hill on flickr.com

Life is always good

Life is always good, because you can make of it anything you choose. Life is good, because it is exceptionally flexible.

Life is good because you can express what it means to be alive in your own unique and fulfilling way. And that is precisely how you make your life good and rich and full.

On this day, in this place, just as you are, life is good. For you have the opportunity to live with passion and purpose.

You can explore, you can invent, you can question, you can taste, you can give, you can observe and you can build. You can commit your whole life to what you value and quickly move away from what you don't.

The possibilities spread out endlessly in every direction. And you are here, right now, to consider, select and act upon the ones that most appeal to you.

Life can be frustrating and challenging and painful, difficult and unfair. Even so, life is always good because you can always make it better, and in so doing you make it great.

Pillow Talk

Today I worked on completing two pillows to deliver to some girls at a group home I have been working at for the past few months.

I had the girls draw or write their favorite sayings or "motto" on a piece of paper and then I turned it into an embroidery pattern and stitched it together.

After asking them their favorite colors, I then selected the fabrics for the pillows.

I hope these little crafted gifts will let them know they are thought of and that someone took some time to make something special for them.

Unfortunately, one of the girls had gone "on run" when I got there. She is making some bad decisions right now in her life. I am glad to hear the home is willing to take her back once she is located. The other girl I made the pillow for is headed to a drug treatment rehab facility for a couple of months and then returning. I am only thinking good thoughts for her and hope she will come back with strengths to help her "live her life to the fullest".

Looking Outside My Windows

I have decided I am staying inside today. This decision has been made after two consecutive days of running errands and doctor appointments in the snow and having a little fun fish-tailing the wheels due to access ways being overloaded with snow, ice, sand, and what ever else.

The sun is out, but from the thermometer one can tell it is cold in our little part of the world. From what I am hearing via conversations with my husband (again in Kansas City) and then on Facebook with friends in the South and all over, it is cold pretty much everywhere. One schoolmate wrote it was 38 degrees in her part of Florida and she has lived there for 12 years with it never getting that cold.

I do feel accomplished in having kept my sidewalks and porch ramp cleared off. I wonder what the neighbors think seeing a Southern girl out with her handy straw broom sweeping instead of using the shovel. The broom also works great in clearing off the van with its heaping pile of snow.

Wynston and I laughed last year when we were purchasing new snow shovels from a Goodwill in Nashville. (No snow there so the stores donated the shovels to charity). Now we are still laughing, but so enjoying the benefits of pushing the snow off the driveway with them.

Take time to look out your window today!! Stay warm and keep well.

Another Quilt To Make You Drool

W.I.P-ufo's, originally uploaded by bangkokmomquilts.

This is stunning! I am going to have to study it and decide on some fabrics to make my own. I am thinking purples and greens or maybe yellows and blues. The possibilities are endless and I am really getting into the triangle additions to my quilt blocks.

I can't believe how I hold back on trying new things and then end up thinking -- "Girl, what took you so long?"
