Hummingbird Sachet

Recently I commented on a blog I follow about an article titled "Get Excited, Make Something". Since I was one of the first 5 to respond, I received this beautiful hand-made hummingbird sachet made by Tommye, the author of .

It is very sweet and I have it on my craft table to admire. It is too cute to place in a drawer.

This Hat

An old lady was standing at the railing of the cruise ship
holding her hat tight so that it would not blow away in the wind.


A gentleman approached her and said,
"Pardon me, madam.
I do not intend to be forward
but did you know that your dress
is blowing up in this high wind?"


"Yes, I know," said the lady.
"I need both my hands
to hold onto this hat."

"But madam, you must know that you are
not wearing any panties
and your privates are exposed!"
said the gentleman in earnest.

The woman looked down,
then back up at the man
and replied,
"Sir, anything you see down there
is 85 years old.
I just bought this hat yesterday!"

Horse 'n Around -- Eagle Mount

Two of my children and I got to tour Eagle Mount the other day and meet the staff that work with disabled children and adults.



I have signed mine up to participate in their "Wrangler" program where they will be doing horsemanship activities, which could include "mucking". Both children didn't sound excited about that chore and we will have to see how it goes.




Also, they do not have to be put on a waiting list to be involved in that or summer day activities on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 11 to 3. We went over the calendar of events and each child got to decide what activies they want to participate in. (Savannah Rose - age 15 chose twice as many as Avery - age 9).

I am so thankful to be in a new community, a smaller community, and one that offers special activities for those with disabilities.




We took some photos of the horses and donkeys while there and some of the pictures turned out beautifully. Hope you enjoy.

Free Embroidery Pattern - Flower Girl

This lovely embroidery patter was found on flickr.com today.

She is sweet and innocent looking. I could not get it to save into a file to print out and could not get it to do a print screen as my computer does not do "gif" photo files. But, to have a copy, I just put a piece of paper up next to the screen and used a fine tip permanent marker. -- The things you have to do to be creative and get what you want these days.

Ideogram -- "BEAUTY"

Ideogram is a symbol for an object. The Chinese/Japanese have not letters for their words(as far as I know the language has not letters like A B C D.....). They do not learn to speak their language by reading the symbols but by listening. This image is an ideogram or symbol for the word beauty but there are no letter sounds for the spoken word in this image only the image or picture of beauty. So the written language are more pictures than words used to describe the object/person/place/thing (here beauty) and not the spoken word we can hear.

Another explanation:

You use words with letters when you write. People learn to speak your language by listening to words or reading them using the letters to make the sounds for the words. Chinese and Japanese people listen to learn to speak their language. They are then told what the images mean- they have to learn symbols for everything. I understand they have thousands of symbols!
